Nakita Thomas built IANTFINDS in Durham, NC out of a season when she wasn’t fine. Today she stages homes, sets up rentals, and organizes spaces across the Triangle and Triad.
Most business names come from a brainstorm. Mine came from a season.
IANTFINDS is what came out of I Ain’t Fine. Not fine. Not settled. Not okay with where I was, and not willing to stay there. I built a business on top of the exact feeling most people are trying to hide.
I grew up believing a home was more than shelter. It was sanctuary. Canvas. Haven. I also lived in spaces that felt heavy, disconnected, and broken and I learned that a room can quietly take something from you every day you walk through it.
So I stopped separating the two. Change the space, and you change what the person living in it believes is possible.
That’s the whole business. That’s the whole point.
An organized house is an organized mind.
I didn’t learn that from a book. I learned it standing in the middle of my own chaos, realizing I couldn’t think straight until I could see straight.
Clutter isn’t a decorating problem. It’s a decision problem. Every pile in your house is a decision you haven’t made yet, and your brain keeps score of every single one. That’s why “just clean it up” never works, and why you can sleep in a clean room and wake up feeling different.
When I clear a space, I’m not organizing your things. I’m giving you your attention back.
Every business coach says pick one thing.
I’m in my forties. I’ve raised some kids. I’ve started over more than once. And I’ve learned that my brain doesn’t run on one track it runs on all of them, at the same time, all the time. For years I treated that like a flaw I needed to fix.
It isn’t a flaw. It’s the product.
Here’s what nobody tells you about “jack of all trades” the full saying is jack of all trades, master of none, though oftentimes better than a master of one. The staging expert doesn’t know how to pack a kitchen. The organizer doesn’t know what makes a listing photograph well. The cleaning company doesn’t know why your rental isn’t booking.
I know all of it. Because I’ve done all of it.
So no, I don’t specialize in one service. I specialize in one moment the in-between. The gap between the life you had and the life you’re moving toward. Selling. Moving. Downsizing. Launching. Starting over.
That moment is where everything gets heavy, and that moment is where I work.
